A major investment has been announced today for Ireland's regional airports.
Over 16 million euro is to be invested in boosting the safety and security of a number of airports, including Cork Airport, which has received almost five and a half million euro.
Some of the funding at Cork Airport will be used to complete a significant electrical substation, to reduce the airport's environmental impact.
This project will complete the revamp of the runway, which began last September and resulted in the temporary closure of the airport for a 10 week period .
Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Hildegarde Naughton, says its part of the Government committment to the aviation sector in the wake of the Covid pandemic.
