A man in his 20s was rushed to Cork University Hospital by ambulance this morning with suspected gunshot wounds.
Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to a house, on the northside of the city, in the early hours of today.
The man was found at the scene on Churchfield Avenue shortly before 4am.
He had suffered apparent gun shot wounds and injures are not thought to be life threatening.
The scene has been preserved for a technical and forensic examination.
Gardaí at Gurranbraher are appealing to the public for information and asking any witnesses to come forward.
They say they are particularly keen for anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam footage, to make it available.
