21 year old Jonathan Woodside of Kilally West, Kilworth, Co Cork appeared at Mallow District Court via video link this afternoon.
Woodside has been in custody since the 24th of September when he was arrested in Fermoy.
Two weeks ago Judge John King adjourned a bail application until a psychiatrist's report was completed and remanded the student in Cork Prison.
Judge Alec Gabbett heard last Monday that the report had not been completed and remanded Woodside for a further week.
Today in court defence counsel Ciarán O’Keeffe renewed the bail application following the completion of the psychiatrist's report .
Det Garda Dave O’Shea today outlined that on the day in question, the accused allegedly took his father’s car from his house in Kilworth and drove to Fermoy where he collided with a number of cars including a Garda car driven by Detective O’Shea.
Detective O’Shea also said Gardaí objected to bail due to the seriousness of the charges which included possession of a knife.
Judge Colm Roberts said he accepted the seriousness of the charges and granted Woodside bail on a number of conditions.
He must reside at his parent’s house in Kilworth, he must obey a curfew between 10pm and 7am and be contactable by Gardaí by phone at all times. He must stay away from McCurtain Street in Fermoy apart from when he has a medical appointment.
He was also ordered not to have any direct or indirect contact with a named individual or their family.
Judge Roberts further set a bail bond of €500 with €100 in cash and also ordered that his father act as an independent surety with a bond of €1,000.
Woodside will appear in Fermoy District Court again on Friday and was remanded in custody with consent to bail on that day.
