Tyler “Tiggy” Jackson of Ballydaheen West, Mallow, Co Cork was last week found guilty of the murder of Conor Quinn on Bridge Street, Mallow on the 12th of July 2018.

The jury of eight men and four women had previously heard evidence from Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster who said Conor Quinn died of haemorrhage, shock and partial lung collapse after being stabbed in the chest.

In a victim impact statement read out by Conor’s aunt Jennifer Spittle on behalf of the family, the court heard that’s Conor’s death had left an endless void in their lives.

On behalf of Conor’s mother Teresa, Jennifer said Conor’s son- who wasn’t born when his father was killed- tells her that he wishes his daddy was there to play with him and give him a cuddle and then asks her “why did he have to go to heaven?”

The statement also said Jackson’s decision to flee the scene and the state had prevent justice being done and has been emotionally draining for the family.

Jackson made no reaction when Ms Justice Eileen Creedon sentenced him to life.

His defence barrister told the court that his client disagreed with the jury’s decision and said he intends to appeal the sentence.
