A man entered a petrol station on Victoria Road shortly before 6pm yesterday,
He told staff he had a knife and demanded cash before leaving on foot.
Gardaí attended the scene and circulated the man's description to all officers.
A suspect was stopped a short time later by Gardaí on Douglas Street and the money believed to have been stolen during the robbery was also recovered.
The man is currently being detailed at the Bridewell Garda Station.
