A man in his forties was killed in a single vehicle accident in north Cork last evening.
His death is the fourth fatal collision on a Cork road this week - and the sixteenth this year.
A man in his mid-40s was the driver, and sole occupant, of the only vehicle involved in the accident.
It happened on the R619, Mallow-to-Bweeng Road, near Dromahane at approximately 5 past 5 yesterday evening.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four people died on Cork roads in the week between Friday, the 9th December, and Friday, the 16th December.
Gardaí closed the road and put local diversions in place to preserve the scene for Forensic Collision Investigators.
It has since been reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, or any road users - who may have camera (including dash-cam) footage and were travelling in the area between 4 o'clock and quarter-past-five yesterday afternoon - to come forward.
