Tim Bowen of Cottage View in Monkstown appeared before Cork District Court in connection with the charges.
The first charge alleges that Bowen attempted to communicate with a child with the purpose of facilitating the sexual exploitation of that child between July 4th and July 26th 2019.
The second charge is that he attempted to meet the child at Costa Coffee in Bishopstown on July 26th 2019 for the purpose of doing something that constituted sexual exploitation of the child.
Defence Solicitor Eddie Burke requested an adjournment so his client could consider whether or not he would enter a plea of guilty at District Court level with sentencing at the Circuit Criminal Court, or if he would plead not guilty and be served with a book of evidence.
Judge Joanne Carroll adjourned the case until March 16th and granted Bowen bail.
He is required to sign on at Togher Garda Station twice a week, must surrender his passport and must be contactable to Gardaí by mobile phone on a twenty four seven basis.
