Man (60s) Dies After Car Crash In Leap

A man in his 60s has died after a crash in Leap yesterday.

The collision happened at approximately half past 11 yesterday morning.

Bernadette Jameson has more for RedFM News:

"The fatal incident involved just one vehicle - a van - which struck a pillar outside a private residence on the N71 - the main Clonakilty-Skibereen Road.

The sole occupant of the van was a male in his 60s.

He was seriously injured in the collision and was rushed to Cork University Hospital by the National Ambulance Service, where he passed away overnight.

No one else is believed to have been involved in the accident.

Gardaí in Clonakilty are appealing to anyone who may have information about what happened to contact them.

This includes any road users who were travelling on the N71 - the main Skibbereen to Clonakilty road - yesterday morning between 11 and half past 11, and who may have camera footage including from their dash cam.
