A man and woman in their 20s are due in court in Cork this morning after being arrested in relation to a robbery and screwdriver attack on a teacher from France on Tuesday night.
The incident happened at around 10:15pm on Patrick Street.The incident unfolded when a phone was stolen from a teenage girl who was among a group of around 20 young students visiting from France.
A teacher with the group chased the person who stole the phone and was stabbed in the back several times with what is understood to be a screwdriver by a second person.
The man’s injuries were not life-threatening and he was treated in hospital before being discharged.
A man and woman have been arrested in connection with the investigation and were detained at a Garda station in the city.
They are due before the District Court in Court this morning.
