Gardaí have arrested a man and seized a firearm in Mallow during the early hours of this morning
At approximately 1.10am, Gardaí operating a checkpoint stopped a vehicle, during a search a shot gun and ammunition was located and seized.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Cork Division.
The operation involved the Mallow Detective Unit, Mallow Drugs Unit and Mallow Roads Policing Unit.
The seized items will be forwarded to The Garda Ballistics Unit for further analysis
