A man in his 70s is due to appear in Skibbereen District Court today, in relation to the murder of a woman 41 years ago.
Nora Sheehan, from Ballyphehane was 54 years old when she was killed - sometime between the 6th and 12th of June 1981.
Nora's body was found at Ship-pool Wood in Innishannon.
She had last been seen alive outside the South Infirmary Hospital in the city at 9.45pm just 6 days earlier.
Her case was under the remit of the Serious Crime Review Team.
In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí confirmed that a man in his early 70s was arrested by Gardaí from Bandon, this morning - in connection with the murder.
Investigations are ongoing.
