A man is appearing in court this morning charged in connection with an armed robbery in Douglas.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident after a man entered a store in Broadale on Maryborough Hill at 6.30pm on Wednesday with a suspected firearm.
The man in his 40's stole cash and left the scene and was arrested shortly after.
He has since been charged and is due before Cork District Court this morning.
In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí said:
Gardaí in Cork were alerted to an armed robbery in Broadale, Cork on the evening of Wednesday 2nd April 2025.
Shortly before 6:30pm, a male entered a commercial premises on Maryborough Hill with a suspected firearm. A quantity of cash was stolen and the male left the scene.
No injuries were reported.
A male in his 40s was arrested a short time later at a nearby location and was detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a Garda Station in Cork city.
He has since been charged, and is scheduled to appear before Cork District Court this morning, Friday 4th April 2025.
Investigations are ongoing."
