29-year-old Miller Pacheco of Room 3, Number 5, Liberty Street, Cork city was charged with the murder at a special sitting of Cork District Court on January 2nd last.
Miller Pacheco appeared before Cork District Court via video link from Cork Prison today.
Sgt John Kelleher told the court that a book of evidence had been served on defence solicitor Frank Buttimer on behalf of his client.
A Portuguese language interpreter was present in court to translate the proceedings for the accused.
Sgt Kelleher told Judge Olann Kelleher that the DPP had directed that Pacheco be sent forward for trial at the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court on July 25th.
Defence solicitor Frank Buttimer requested and was granted further translation facilities for his client.
The body of 28-year-old Bruna Fonseca was discovered at a flat in the city centre on New Years Day.
The qualified librarian from Brazil had moved to Cork in September of last year and was working as a contract cleaner at the Mercy University Hospital.
