29 year old Miller Pacheco of Room 3, Number 5, Liberty Street, Cork City appeared at Cork District Court today via video link.
The body of 28 year old Bruna Fonseca was discovered at an apartment on Liberty Street in the city on New Years Day.
Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s in relation to the investigation and charged him with murdering the Brazilian national on January 1st.
Miller Pacheco appeared at a special sitting of Cork District Court last Monday and was remanded to Cork Prison by Judge John King.
Today in court Sergeant Gearóid Davis said the state is awaiting directions from the DPP.
A Portuguese interpreter was present in court today and translated proceedings for the accused.
Defence solicitor Frank Buttimer said Pacheco understands that the investigation is at an early stage. He also said that a Portuguese interpreter would be required in court for the next appearance.
Judge Olann Kelleher remanded Pacheco to appear in court again on the 30th of January.
Meanwhile, Gardaí investigating the death of Bruna Fonseca have renewed their appeal for information.
They are appealing for anyone who was on Liberty Street either on foot or in a car between 4:30am and 6:30am on the morning of the January 1st to contact them at the Bridewell Garda Station on 021 494 3330
