A man's due in court today charged after shots were fired at Gardai in County Cork.
The incident also involved a car chase that lasted nearly half an hour on the M8.
Gardai were called to an incident at Military Road at around 23:40 on Friday night, and when they arrived, a man fired a number of shots towards uniformed officers.
The suspect then left the scene in a car and Gardai pursued it, led by members of the Armed Support Unit.
The operation ended on the toll plaza on the M8 Northbound shortly after midnight, when Gardaí used a stinger device to bring the car to a halt.
The driver got out and fired at Garda members but no-one was injured.
A man in his 20s was arrested and was being questioned at Fermoy Garda Station- he's been charged and is expected to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice in Cork this morning.
