A man found dead in sheltered accommodation in Macroom yesterday has been named locally as 61 year old Michael Foley
It's the second tragedy in the family in recent years after Michael's brother Timmy Foley was murdered in the town in 2018.Emergency services and Gardaí attended the scene at Annville in Barretts place, Macroom yesterday.
Michael Foley was found with extensive head injuries and Gardaí are treating his death as 'suspicious'.
It's understood that Mr Foley lived on the property for several years and was originally from Clonakilty.
Gardaí say they're collecting CCTV footage from the area, and door-to-door enquiries are underway.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place at Cork University Hospital, the results of which will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
This is the second tragedy in the Foley family in recent years after Timmy Foley, Michael's brother, was murdered in 2018.
He was stabbed 28 times by his 48 year old ex-wife Rita O'Driscoll who was jailed for life after the murder in Macroom.
