A man, who was found unconscious in a housing estate in Mahon earlier today, has died.
Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the unexplained death.
"The man in his 40s was found unconscious in the Ballinsheen Court housing estate in Mahon.
Emergency Services got the call just after 8:30 this morning.
He was treated at the scene before being taken to Cork University Hospital.
He has since been pronounced dead.
The scene is being preserved for a full technical examination by the Divisional Crime Scene Unit.
The Coroner and office of the State Pathologist have been notified; a post-mortem examination has been arranged.
Results from the post-mortem will help Gardaí determine the course of the investigation.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
They are particularly keen for those with video footage from the Ballinsheen Court area in the early hours of this morning to make it available to them.
