A man in his 60's has been arrested after driving on the wrong side of the M8 motorway at Fermoy last night.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident which forced part of the road and toll booths to close between 9 and 10 o clock.
The dangerous driving incident happened between junction 9 and 17 heading Northbound on the M8 Motorway.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident and shut off access to the Northbound Carriageway as well as the toll booth of the Cork to Dublin Road.
No one was injured as a result of the man in his 60's driving on the wrong side of the motorway.
He was arrested and is currently detained at a Garda station in Cork.
