A young man who was killed in a road crash on the north side of the city has been named locally as more calls are made for road safety in the Kilcully area.
Paul Harrington died after his motorbike and a van collided in Ballinahina on Tuesday evening.
The man in his mid twenties is just one of three motorcyclists who lost their lives on Cork roads in the space of four days.
A man in his 40's died yesterday after a collision between a motorbike and a truck in Ballydesmond while 60 year old Niall Murphy died in a motorcycle crash in Banteer on Sunday evening.
Speaking to RedFM News, Charlie Clarke from the Kilcully Residents Association says Paul Harrington's death has reinforced the need for traffic calming measures in the area.
"Everybody is very upset, and God only knows how the family of that young man are.
"There's no traffic calming at all around the area. We had recent protests there at City Hall. We were earmarked for all sorts of traffic calming and road improvements in our area.
"We were told we were getting all this done this year, and the whole thing has been pushed back again now."
