The incident happened at McCurtain Villas on College Road in the city on Saturday the 26th of March.
A man forced his way into the house and assaulted the man in his 20s and a woman in her 60s.
The man received serious injuries while the woman's injuries at the time were said to be non-life threatening.
The man that was arrested is due in court in the city this morning at 10:30
