Man pleads guilty to Christmas attack on Cork family

A 54 year old man with an address at Silvercourt, Silversprings has been remanded in custody for sentence after he pleaded to stabbing four members of the one family just before Christmas.

One of Thomas O'Sullivan's victims, a 47 year old woman ended up having emergency surgery lasting nine hours after suffering a number of stab wounds.

Today at Cork Circuit Criminal Court Court, Thomas O'Sullivan pleaded guilty to assault causing serious harm to the woman at her home on December 23rd.

He also pleaded guilty to assaults causing harm to her 20 year old daughter, her 17 year old daughter and her ten year old son on the same occasion.

And he also pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in the course of committing a burglary at the family's home on the Middle Glanmire Road.

His defence barrister, applied for an adjournment to allow a psychiatric report to be prepared on his client and the state consented.

Judge Sean O Donnnabhain remanded Thomas O'Sullivan in continuing custody to appear again for sentence on June 19th next.
