A man has been rushed to the Mercy University Hospital this afternoon with a head injury and substantial bleeding.
Passers-by on Lavitt's Quay near Cork Opera House alerted emergency services to a man who had fallen into the river.
3 units of Cork City Fire Brigade attended the scene where a semi-unconscious man was found on the steps down into the river.
He has suffered a head injury in the fall and was bleeding heavily.
He was taken to by ambulance to the nearby Mercy Emergency Department.
