The man who cannot be identified appeared at Cork Circuit Criminal Court today after pleading guilty to sending explicit messages and an explicit photo of himself to the then 16 year old girl in September 2019.
The court heard the man told the girl that he would get her all the drugs she wanted in some messages, while in other texts he apologised for his behaviour.
The man lost his job, home and access to his children due to the incident and is currently staying in a B&B.
In a victim impact statement, the victim said there was no excuse for the man's behaviour and that it was very hard to stop thinking about the fact that she had got on well with the man before the incident.
She described him as someone she was starting to trust and that it was really frightening to think about what might have happened during the times when they had been alone together before the incident.
Judge Helen Boyle said he had co operated fully with Gardaí and that his guilty plea had saved the victim the trauma of giving evidence.
