A man who threatened to kill a social worker in Cork last year will be sentenced in January.
The man in his 50s who cannot be named appeared at Cork District Court today.
The court previously heard the man- who has pled guilty to four charges- had assaulted the female social worker at Washington Street Courthouse on the 3rd of April 2023.
He also repeatedly phoned the woman and threatened to ‘blow her up’ and said ‘I am going to take your life’ after becoming upset at a family member being taken into care
Today in court Judge Mary Dorgan said it was a ‘very significant matter’ and said €3,000 compensation would be appropriate, noting the victim in the case had asked for any money to go to charity.
Defence solicitor Daithi Ó Donnabháin said his client is on job seekers allowance and had brought €1,000 to court.
Judge Dorgan said the matter could be finalised if the man raises €500 more and adjourned sentencing until January 9th
