A man in his 40's has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Douglas.
Gardaí were alerted to the incident in Broadale shortly before 6.30pm yesterday evening when a man entered a store with a suspected firearm.
He stole a large amount of cash and left the store on Maryborough Hill.
The man in his 40's was arrested nearby shortly after and he is currently detained at a Garda station in the city.
In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí said:
"Gardaí were alerted to an armed robbery in Broadale, Cork on Wednesday evening, 2nd April 2025.
Shortly before 6:30pm, a male entered a commercial premises on Maryborough Hill with a suspected firearm. A quantity of cash was stolen and the male left the scene.
No injuries were reported.
A male in his 40s was arrested a short time later at a nearby location and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a Garda Station in Cork city.
Investigations are ongoing."
