Both Gardai and the Road Safety Authority are urging people to drive carefully and the Coast Guard and RNLI are asking people to be careful near water.
Roger Sweeney from Water Safety Ireland says we need to be mindful:
"People should try their best to swim where there is a lifeguard. They're all listed on WaterSafety.ie's webpage. And if you're not near one, do your best to swim at a place that is known to be safe locally, and a place that you can swim within your depth and stay within your depth: that's terribly important. And if you're on the water, wear a life jacket. We had 76 drownings in Ireland last year."
