Met Eireann is appealing to road users to slow down and drive to the conditions during bad weather.
A Status Yellow wind and rain warning will come into affect in Cork and Kerry at 7 o'clock this evening while Clare, Galway and Limerick have been issued a yellow wind alert for 1am tomorrow.
Fallen trees, localised flooding and difficult driving conditions are expected.
Speaking to RedFM News, Meteorologist with Met Eireann Joanna Donnelly says people need to be aware of how the weather will affect them:
"There's always the the risk of loose branches, debris on the road, difficult or dangerous driving conditions associated with any level of extreme weather. I'd advise people to make themselves aware, aware of how different elements of the weather affects their own property or their own journey times or distances."
