Met Éireann says rain will be heavy for the next few hours.
A Status Yellow rain warning has been in place since yesterday morning and up to 40 milimetres of rain could have fallen by the time the alert ends at lunchtime.
Meanwhile the forecaster says it expects temperatures to stay mild for the next few days.
Speaking to RedFM News, Linda Hughes from Met Eireann says a cold snap isn't expected this weekend:
"Looks like there'll be quite similar temperatures right towards the week there in the south. So, highest temperatures generally will be around 10 to 13 degrees every day for the rest of the week and into the weekend."
