Met Eireann's warning motorists to be cautious of the glaring sun as well as icy roads.

A Status Yellow low temperature warning is in place for Cork as well as the rest of the country until midday.

The weather forecaster says motorists should be prepared for difficult travelling conditions.

The road from Ballinhassing heading to the city is particularly icy meanwhile there's been a three car collision on Carr's hill and a separate crash heading westbound on the N40 after the tunnel.

Speaking to RedFM News, Matthew Martin from Met Eireann says people should take extra care on the roads:

"So there are going to be difficult travelling conditions so motorists should take care on the roads, and as well the sun is quite low at this time of year, so whilst it's going to be cold, there'll be lots of sunshine about and that could be hazzardous too."
