One of the organisers of a cost of living protest in the city this weekend has invited the Taoiseach to attend the event.
Cork TD Mick Barry put the invitation to Micheál Martin in the Dáil yesterday ahead of Saturday's demonstration on Grand Parade.
The Cost of Living Campaign is made up of local opposition politicians, student groups, disability service advocates and charity groups..
The government have said they will roll out once-off measures to help people with the cost of living crisis...
However the group say they have no confidence in the government's ability to ease the pressure on those struggling with price increases.
Speaking in the Dáil, Mick Barry encouraged the Taoiseach to attend the protest.
"I want to invite you to come down to the Grand Parade this Saturday, and witness the Cork cost of living protest.
"You will see thousands of people anxious about heating their homes this winter, discontented about the lack of action fro your government, and demanding real change, not token change in this Budget.
"It might be a useful way for you to spend an hour of your time this Saturday."
