Midleton’s Parish Priest has described two recent road deaths in the area as a tragedy.

19-year-old Jake Mulcahy from Killeagh was killed when his car and an articulated lorry collided in Ballyedekin yesterday morning.

It was the second crash on the N25 in less than a week after 45-year-old John Barry was killed when he was walking on the road at Water Rock on Sunday morning.

Speaking to RedFM News, Father Jim Killeen says the road deaths have affected the community:

"When it happens over the road we feel it affects us, it's tragic for the families, the men were relatively young as well. It's a big straight road and you could find yourself going faster than you realise, I would appeal to everyone to be considerate of yourself and everyone else and take extra care."
