The Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment says he expects supports for businesses affected by last week's devastating floods to be agreed tomorrow.
Cabinet is expected to approve emergency funding of up to 70,000 euro per business, which would be administered by the Red Cross.
Heavy rain in parts of the county today is causing surface flooding on many roads.
Speaking on the Neil Prendiville Show, Minister Simon Coveney says there is an existing flood support scheme which can be enhanced:
"We need to be generous. I mean, obviously there has to be some limits, but we will go way beyond what was previously there. What I'd like to do is effectively have the original scheme that people will be familiar with and we can apply that scheme to other towns in Cork that have been hit, but not hit like Midleton was, and then we will have an enhanced scheme which will have a much higher threshold".
