The Minister of State for Disabilities says she’s confident that she will bring clear the backlog of children waiting for an assessment of need.
765 children in Cork were waiting for needs assessments at the end of March.
Funding of 6.8 million euro has been approved to provide 2,500 assessments nationally over the next 6 months.
Speaking to RedFM News, Minister of State for Disabilities Anne Rabbitte says the funding will clear the backlog:
"I'm absolutely confident that I will drive that, while I'm in minister, to drive down that waiting list, and also to use that money wisely. Every CHO is going to get an allocation and of those allocations, I will be monthly monitoring the longest waiters and seen delivery outcomes for, most importantly, the young people".
