The Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works visited Bantry this afternoon to reassure flood-hit business owners and traders that a plan is being put in place to prevent a repeat of flooding experienced in the town this week.

Over 50 homeowners and businesses were left reeling after 3ft high flood owners ran through their premises when Storm Francis hit.

Cork County Council have already commenced an examination of the structural integrity of the underground network in the town and once this has been established a detailed design will be put forward for public consultation.

However speaking to RedFM News Minister Patrick O'Donovan says any flood relief scheme for Bantry will take time but he says it will be delivered:
