Minister Simon Coveney says Siún Ní Raghallaigh’s resignation is another unwelcome development in the RTÉ saga which has gone on for too long.

The former RTÉ chair announced her resignation late last night after the Minister for Media Catherine Martin said she had been misinformed by Ms Ní Raghallaigh in relation to RTÉs exit packages.

The Enterprise Minister's brother and RTÉ’s Former Director of Strategy, Rory Coveney was reportedly paid an exit package of around 200 thousand euro by the state broadcaster.

Speaking to RedFM News, Minister Simon Coveney says it’s not appropriate for him to comment on the issues at RTÉ because of his family connection:

"This is another unwelcome development in the context of of this RTÉ saga which has gone on for a very long time. You know, I've made it clear that over the last number of months, it's probably not appropriate for me to comment on RTÉ'S difficulties given the fact that I have a family connection there. So I think it's best that I that I leave that commentary to others."
