Patrick O'Donovan is due to assess the damage caused by flooding after Storm Francis hit West Cork hard on Monday night
Parts of the two towns were left underwater and traders are now calling for a support package and say they were already struggling to navigate the obstacles created by the COVID19 outbreak.
Some of the streetscape in Bantry has been left badly damaged following the flooding and business and home owners in both towns spent the day brushing out flood waters and cleaning up their premises yesterday
The Council has given assurances that once the main drainage scheme in Bandon is complete it will provide significantly increased storm water capacity while the tender process for the consultancy contract for the Bantry Flood Relief Scheme is at an advanced stage and is expected to issue in the coming weeks.
