Monaghan Road and Centre Park Road are closed after the overflow of wastewater.

Uisce Éireann says the flooding happened last night after equipment failure at the Atlantic Pond pumping station

Council crews are on site with tankers to remove the overflow and road users are advised to take an alternative route.

In a statement to RedFM News, Uisce Éireann said:

"Uisce Éireann is working to resolve an overflow of wastewater in the Atlantic Pond area in Cork which has led to some flooding of roads in the vicinity.

Crews are on the ground working to resolve the issue and mitigate the impact of any overflows. A traffic management plan has been put in place and a number of streets in the locality have been closed in consultation with Cork City Council and An Garda Siochána.

Areas impacted include Monaghan Road and Centre Park Road.

Uisce Éireann’s incident management team is liaising with the EPA and Cork City Council in relation this incident. Tankers are on site removing excess wastewater overflows. We are asking people to avoid the area while this incident is ongoing."
