The Road Safety Authority is urging motorists in Cork to drive with extreme caution as a status yellow fog alert is in place for Munster.
Met Eireann is warning of dense fog with poor visibility until 11AM this morning.
Brian Farrell of the Road Safety Authority is asking motorists to slow down.
"The most important thing to do is reduce your speed, because your visibility is reduced in foggy and dense fog conditions.
"You need to slow down so that you have time and space to be abele to manoeuvre safely.
"Turn on your lights and your fog lights, and keep a safe distance from the car in front."
