Residents on the north side of the city say their tap water looks like brown gravy.

Mount Farrann Residents Association are calling for urgent action on the city's ongoing water discolouration issue.

Uisce Eireann says its carrying out flushing works and gradually replacing old cast iron pipes.

Speaking to RedFM News, Elaine Eager from Mount Farrann Residents Association says it's become a public health issue:

"It's started to turn a really dark brown, it's like a thick gravy looking colour, we have a Whatsapp group in the community, and it's consistently now across virtually all of the houses in Mount Farran. And we had our dishwasher on, we were able to turn it off, but some neighbors had their washing on, and they're not able to turn it off now, but it's a public health issue at this point."
