A lecturer in Munster Technological University has been recognised as one of the top young researchers in Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA).
Dr. Kapal Dev lectures in the Department of Computer Science, and was awarded runner-up in the IEEE ComSoc outstanding Young Researcher category for his promising research activities.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is an international organisation based in the USA. Annually, the institute honours three researchers for their significant contributions to society.
This award recognises the excellence of Dr. Dev’s research work which focuses on wireless networks, blockchain and artificial intelligence targeting industry 4.0/5.0. In practical terms, Dr Dev’s research is centred around improving communication networks and associated services that are the core elements of today’s digital technology.
Explaining his research, Dr Dev said:
“It is important to focus on the progress and efficiency of communication networks as these networks affect all our everyday lives and are necessary infrastructure for applications such as autonomous driving, e-health care systems and clinical care, education technology, virtual reality, Artificial Intelligence (AI), streaming services and other digital technologies. My research focuses on the design of effective and efficient communication network protocols and techniques that help improve the performance and sustainability of such services, with the aim of reducing the computational complexity and energy efficiency while improving the communication efficiency for 5G and 6G.”
