A much anticipated school campus in Carrigtwohill has been given the go-ahead to begin construction by the Department of Education.
The Carrigtwohill Community Campus will be the largest ever investment in Irish history in a joint primary/post-primary educational centre.
The campus, off Station Road in Carrigtwohill, will be home to three schools: Scoil Chliodhna, and Scoil Mhuire Naofa primary schools - as well as Carrigtwohill Community College post-primary school.
The secondary school will cater for up to 1000 students, while both news primary schools will house 24 classrooms each.
All three schools will have units catering specifically to pupils with Special Educational Needs .
