Multimillion Euro Plan To 'Reimagine Cork City' Launched This Morning

The plan is designed to allow for social distancing and to support traders who are adapting to a dramatically changed living and working environment due to the pandemic.

€1.5 million will be spent resurfacing cycle lanes, while provision for outdoor dining for up to 1,000 people and 1.3 kilometres of pedestrianised city centre streets have also been announced.

Princes Street, Tuckey Street, Caroline Street and Pembroke Street have already been pedestrianised, with plans for a total of 14 people friendly streets expected to be implemented in the coming weeks.

Speaking to RedFM News, Assistant Chief Executive of Cork City Council Brian Geaney says the plan is also designed to future-proof the City:
