Community groups in the town of Midleton have come together to organise a Music Festival this weekend with all proceeds going to families affected by flash floods a fortnight ago
A months worth of rain fell in just 24 hours during Storm Babet leaving homes and business in the East Cork town under three feet of water
The Music Festival has been organised for Sunday at Midleton GAA club with all proceeds to be distributed to flood victims by St Vincent de Paul
Live acts including Paddy Casey, The Frank and Walters, John Spillane and Stephanie Rainey will all take to the stage between 2pm and 8pm at the sold out event on Sunday
Chairman of Midleton GAA John Fenton told RedFM News that the people of the town need to be supported
"In some places there was 7 feet of water, so you can imagine that getting into the first floor of a house, everything beneath that was just literally wiped out. Walls had to be pulled down, floors ripped up and everything like that. So while the focus and the attention may have drifted a little bit, the problem is still there, so that's what this concert on Sunday is all about, is to try and raise the most funds as we can to help those people to try in some shape or form get back on their feet"
In parallel with the music event a Go Fund Me page has also been established that can facilitate this. Please go to https://gofund.me/58619260
