Nano Nagle Place has won the 2022 Council of Europe Museum Prize.
The complex houses a museum, heritage rooms, gardens, café, gift shop, and a Cork focussed book shop.
The regenerated convent buildings are also home to several charities including The Cork Migrant Centre, which provided services for asylum seekers and refugees, and The Lantern Community Project, which runs community education and development services.
The judging committee for the 2022 Council of Europe Museum Prize commended Nano Nagle Place for despite being rooted in a specific religious tradition, the centre offers "a strong sense of caring based on need, not on doctrine".
Earlier this year, in August, Nano Nagle Place was recognised with a Traveller's Choice Award by Trip Advisor.
That prize put the Douglas Street destination in Trip Advisor's top ten percent of attractions worldwide.
