A National Day of Commemoration takes place in Cork today for Irish troops who have died in the line of duty.
A ceremony is taking place in Collins Barracks in the city to mark the event, with the President and Taoiseach among those attending.
It's usually held in Collins Barracks in Dublin, however it has been moved to facilitate renovations.
Independent TD and former Army Ranger Cathal Berry says it's particularly poignant given events of recent months:
"It's a big day for for the families obviously. It's an important day for the country as well - that we remember their their service and their sacrifice. We've had a large number of Irish troops killed in UN service alone, and it's particularly poignant this year, because of the loss of Private Sean Rooney before Christmas as well. So even in the last 12 months, we've added to the Role of Honour unfortunately and it's a very poignant day today for his family - so I'm glad they're going to be here as well".
