The lower your income the more likely you will receive a proposal of sex for rent exploitation.

The National Women's Council has called for legislation to criminalise sex for rent in Ireland.

Online ads have surfaced for properties in Mallow and Blarney stating that the landlord would prefer a female tenant and is willing to " take payment in unique ways".

Speaking to RedFM News Feargha NÍ Bhrion from the Women's Council says vulnerable and marginalised women need to be protected:

"We're talking about women. We're talking about women who are fleeing domestic violence, women who are in huge debt, women who are being put under pressure to leave direct provision and often have nowhere to go and very little means so yeah, really it's the most marginalized are the most at risk."
