The bus drivers union has challenged public representatives to support Bus Eireann in moving people out of their cars in Cork and onto public transport

It comes as the National Transport Authority has announced punctuality and reliability improvements are to be put in place on 21 Cork bus routes over the next four months

Bus Eireann now has a full compliment of drivers following an intensive recruitment campaign at the end of last year which is allowing the company to concentrate on improving routes in the city

Speaking to RedFM News Dermot O'Leary of the National Bus and Rail Union says work needs to be done to allow the buses move freely around the city

"People give out about the bus service and I understand this. Again, I'm challenging the local politicians who sit on the Council, especially those who are very vociferous and give out about the bus service, come and help us to produceservice that is fit for purpose. A service that shows Cork in a good light"
