An archaeological report, which says that it is most likely there was only one burial ground in Bessborough, has been rejected by survivors of the Mother and Baby Home.
The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary commissioned the report.
Caoimhseach Connolly has more for RedFM News:
"The report looked into the historical context of the mother and baby home's operation, and also contained an archaeological assessment.
The report was commissioned by the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary who ran Bessborough.
It finds that both nuns and children were all buried in a single site on the mother and baby home's grounds.
This conclusion is at odds with that of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes.
Although it does agree that the ‘vast majority of children who died in Bessborough are not buried there’.
The Survivors of the home have rejected the findings.
Today's Irish Examiner is reporting that a representative of the Cork Survivors and Supporters Alliance has said that the report is 'not credible' and that 'The survivor mothers are traumatised and deserve better treatment'.
