A new report points to a commercial crisis brewing in the hospitality industry

The report by economist Anthony Foley says the commercial model of the sector has been severely damaged by the 13 point 5 per cent VAT rate and Government imposed cost increases

The report reveals that many food businesses are down sizing as they struggle to keep their businesses afloat and this is impacting on the long term offering for tourists

Speaking to RedFM News Barry McLaughlin owner of the Poachers Inn in Bandon says there is complete indifference to the plight of those in the hospitality sector

"It could be softened. I'm in business eighteen years and there are lots of other people who have been around for longer or a significant period of time -  we don't expect to be perfectly looked after all the time, not at all. We understand the ebbs and flows of economics, what we don't understand is the complete indifference shown by senior ministers in particularly in finance, for  the last two and a half years"
