Rents in County Cork increased over 11% to €1,092 this year, according to the Residential Tenancies Board, while renters in the city are paying an average of €1,389.
The average rent for the third quarter of this year was just under €1,400- renters in Dublin paid the highest average rent at €1,916 while renters in Leitrim paid €731.
Rents increased by 8.3% nationally in Q3- the highest growth rate in almost four years.
The RTB have described the index as the most accurate report of it's kind on the private rental sector in Ireland.
